Goal:

Improve usability and user experience across the platform, and attract more customers.

Methodology:

For the development of the project, we used the Lean UX methodology.
The Lean methodology consists in creating products focused on the users, decreasing their risk and accelerating the production process. Lean UX is an innovative method that improves the user experience and ensures the success of your website.
The Lean methodology is based on the feedback cycle: build — measure — learn.

Process

Product understanding:
We needed to investigate more about the travel booking universe and find out who our user was, for that we talked to some stakeholders, such as the CEO and Q&A analyst.
From this conversation we could then make the proto-persona.

Benchmarking:

Continuing our research, we benchmarked, to better understand what the brand’s competitors were, as well as bring us inspiration and insights for the new platform.

Website Monitoring

We also decided to monitor the current site through heatmaps and screen recording, to understand the user’s behavior, compared to the existing platform.
This tool helped us understand which functionalities were not so important for the user and could be in the background, and which were more important and should be highlighted.
The combination of this platform with Nielsen’s heuristics and more knowledge of the stakeholders, made us understand that the current Home has a lot of information and that its main purpose was to search for flights, so we passed the “Presupuestos” to a second plan, adding on the new platform, a page only for this feature.
On the flight results page we were able to understand the importance of each filter, so we reorganized the order of the filters and placed some as pre-filters.

Tasks

After understanding better the users’ behavior and before starting to design each feature, it was important to understand all the development requirements of the product, and to understand the importance of each feature.
